Original Art in the Home

By Samantha, Lead Designer Optima Homes and JP&CO.

An easy way to effortlessly add beauty and sophistication to your home that you may not immediately think of is to find a large piece of original art. Now this can be much simpler than you think.   Often times what comes to mind when you consider “Original Art” is a price tag—images of Rembrandt and Picasso float across your mind. However, original art is so much more than “the greats”—it comes in all mediums, colors, shapes, sizes, and—yes—prices. When considering what you should put on that large wall in your family room or kitchen, consider the wealth of original artwork resources, both online and outside your front door.  When hunting for the perfect piece remember bigger is better when your wanting to find a piece to anchor a room and fill a large wall.

Commissioning Work without breaking the budget

If you lucky enough to know an artist to commission go for it! You can often give them an idea of colors and theme for the piece and be pleasantly surprised by the end result. Another great option is student work. Finding passionate student that have a bright artistic future ahead of them can be economical for you and an opportunity greatly appreciated by a student.   As an alumni from the University Of MN Department Of Art I would recommend checking their first!
